Belgium's terrain consists of flat coastal plains in the north west, rolling hills in the centre and wooded hills and valleys and the Ardennes Forest in the south east. Belgium consists of 3 regions: Flanders in the north, Wallonia in the south, and the centrally located Brussels. Belgium's rich history has left many impressive churches and castles, dating back to the early Middle Ages. There are also World War I and II graves scattered across the old battlefields, especially around Ypres in Flanders. The beautiful capital city, Brussels, encompasses many charming attractions, including the Parc du Cinquantenaire-Jubelpark for wonderful views of the city. A visit to Robinson's Island in the lake at the heart of the forest, Bois de la Cambre, is worth the short ferry ride. A great country to explore on foot or by bike.
