Frazer Macdonald Hay and Ian Baird from North Berwick Rowing Club, part of the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association (SCRA), plan to row around the Scottish coast. Accompanying Frazer and Ian will be with an ever changing 5 person rowing crew of 4 rowers and 1 cox. The rowers will stagger the adventure around Scotland’s beguiling coastline, inviting each coastal community rowing club to help them on to the next stage. The crews will comprise of local coastal rowers from around Scotland, who will be helping them towards their goal – whilst also raising much needed funds for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).
Starting on May 1st, they hope to be connecting, promoting and exploring each community on their way around Scotland’s coast, eventually heading home for North Berwick’s regatta in August . Frazer and Ian are hoping to explore the Scottish coasts transitional environment, its culture, innovations and unique communities. Intrigued by meeting the coastal demographic and fabulous people rowing competitively and socially at the many regattas around the country, the two North Berwick rowers will set out to document their adventure whilst getting to understand the fascinating fabric of Scotland’s coastal life, aided by the Satmap Active12.
